We are Cameron's Crusaders
Cameron's Crusaders was founded in May 2014 to assist in the search for a bone marrow donor for 17-year-old Cameron Fahey. Cameron's cancer relapsed six months into his treatment and it became apparent that his form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma was very aggressive. The progression of the disease was such that a bone marrow transplant was necessary to save Cameron's life. As an only child, Cameron was in need a non-relative donor. Through several donor drives held in June 2014 (including one held at Brother Rice High School), Cameron's Crusaders collected over $20,000 and successfully registered over 300 donors with Be The Match, a national bone marrow donor registry.
Although a matching donor was found for Cameron and a transplant scheduled for mid-August 2014, the disease was resistant to currently available treatments. At that time, Cameron became ineligible for transplant. Cancer took Cameron from us on August 21, 2014.
The work of Cameron's Crusaders continues in Cameron's memory. Funds raised by Cameron's Crusaders will be used to support The Cameron Miller Fahey Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which funds scholarships for students who exemplify the academic and personal qualities that made Cameron so special. Information about the scholarship can be accessed here.
Cameron's Crusaders also hope to shine a light on the funding deficiencies that exist in the discovery of new treatments for the myriad of pediatric forms of cancer that impact and take our sons, daughters, grandchildren, siblings and friends. Sadly, cancer incident rates are increasing and it continues to impacts children and their families every day, throughout the World. The statistics are truly sobering.

Thank you to the members of Cameron's Crusaders who have shaved their heads in Cameron's honor as part of St. Baldrick's efforts to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
